Erick Bradley Osman was born on the second of June in 1974 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. When he was nearly four his parents had their second child, Mitchell, and the family moved to Omaha, Nebraska. As a child growing up in Omaha, Erick showed great natural abilities as an artist. He won many competitions with his stories and drawings. Everyone could see the beginnings of a future artist.
In 1987, The Osman family moved to Herndon, Virginia. Erick attended Oakton High School in Vienna, Virginia and graduated in 1992. From 1992 to 1996 Erick attended Radford University and received his BFA degree with a focus on drawing and painting. Erick worked in a gallery during his college years learning from other artists what it took to be successful in the art world.

After graduation Erick moved into his family'
s vacation cabin in the Massanutten Mountains in Western Virginia. He lived there for 9 months painting, drawing and sculpting. He continued to work on his ideas and styles while enjoying the seclusion of the mountains. Eventually Erick moved back to the Herndon area and got a retail job selling fine contemporary furniture. While working this job Erick began to study the construction and aesthetics of fine furniture and discovered that he had an eye for design. After nearly a year of studying and selling fine furniture and painting only part time, Erick moved to Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Wanting very much to make it as an artist in South Florida, Erick got involved with some local artists and galleries, hanging shows and painting in night clubs for money. The life was hard and although he sold some work and met some great people, after two years he headed back to Herndon and his father's new business.
Erick's family had started a furniture repair and restoration business and Erick decided to give it a try. He realized that he had a knack for the work and decided to stick with it. He was able to really study all types of woods, joinery, and furniture designs. He began learning how to build his own furniture with his brother Mitchell, who had recently graduated with his BFA from the University of New Hampshire. He too had come home to help in the family business. They started slow with simple designs and eventually began to get commissioned pieces through the help of the restoration business.
Mitchell and Erick began thinking of starting their own business in 2002 designing unique, original pieces of furniture combining different woods, glass, and stone. Erick really refocused on his 2D works during this time too, experimenting with carving and etching glass, shadows, woodcuts, and mixing mediums throughout his 2D and 3D works. Looking for the best ways to make different materials work best together. However they did not have the stone carving and cutting experience they needed to broaden the potential for their business. Then through a mutual friend, Erick met George Tkabladze, an incredible stone sculpture, Erick and George became friends and he invited him to join Mitchell and himself on the endeavor. George agreed and now together they have started Art Woodstone Studio and the future is wide open.
